Our Location:

Houseboats are moored at – Lock Five Road, Paringa, SA.

  • From Renmark, drive over the Paringa Bridge and it’s your first turn on the right.
  • From Mildura, turn left just before the Paringa Bridge.

Follow the road along and we are the second Houseboat Marina on the right-hand side, where you’ll see our big logo and your boat.

Arrival & Departure Times & Paringa Bridge

  • Boarding & Arrival Time is 1pm Please do not arrive any earlier, unless arranged prior. If you will be arriving after these times, you need to email or call to make alternate arrangements.
  • On you’re LAST morning of hire you will need to depart the boat no later than 10am.
  • The Paringa Bridge only lifts twice a day at either 9:30am or 2:30pm, this is automatically booked for 2:30pm on your day of arrival and again booked for your return at 9:30am on your final morning. If you need alternative bridge arrangements, please advise prior.
  • A booking is required for the bridge to lift, if there are NO bookings the bridge will not open.

Bedding Arrangements:

  • We need to know how you would like the bedrooms on your boat made up to suit your group’s sleeping requirements. Some beds can zip apart to become singles, so please let us know what configuration you would like the beds made up in (and how many people you are intending to sleep on board).
  • Complete the Booking Form and email bedding requirements to info@rivermurrayhouseboats.com.au once you have paid your deposit, even if you are having all queens. Otherwise, it is assumed that all queens will be made and a fee of $20 per bedroom will be charged for alterations.

Frequently Asked Questions

A: Yes. Modern houseboats are surprisingly easy to operate. Our staff will explain the operations of your boat to you, from bow to stern before you leave. After your practical instruction, you’ll be on your way with confidence and peace of mind.

A: No. A full car driver’s licence or boat licence is all that is required. The hirer must be over the age of 21 years of age. License must be current and valid.

A: Simply submit a contact form online, and we will get back to you as soon as we can within business hours. If you prefer, phone Rob at River Murray Houseboats on 0427 899 102 in business hours, to discuss boat availability and dates.

Once you have made your booking, a deposit of $600 is required and to be paid within 7 days from your email confirmation. Once this has been paid, your invoice will then be emailed to you with the deposit deducted off your total hire fee, and your final balance is due no later than eight weeks prior to departure.

A: Base contact is available 24 hours a day by mobile phone, so don’t worry we’re here to assist or answer any questions you might have.

A: The houseboat is insured. Providing the terms and conditions of hire are adhered to, the limit of liability is the insurance excess ($1,500 – $5,000 varies with each houseboat). Wilful or negligent damage is not covered by insurance and you will be charged.

A: Why not enquire about availability the night before?

A: Security Car Parking is available for $3 per car or trailer/caravan per night. The cost of the parking is deducted from your security bond at the end of your hire.

A: All you need to bring is your food, drinks, personal toiletries, DVD’s, binoculars, and fishing gear. We’ve created a checklist for you of what we suggest, however feel free to bring along anything that will make your stay comfortable and enjoyable.

A: You can select from either Woolworths at the Renmark Square Shopping Centre (they also have online shopping and click n collect available; you will need to download their app.) or Foodland in the town centre. Please remember that SA has no plastic shopping bags policy, you will have to bring your own or buy at the checkout. There are also other small suppliers, fruit markets (Riverland SunFresh), butchers (Riverland Country Style Meats) coffee Roasters (Arrosto Coffee) in the town too. The Renmark Hotel (SipnSave) offer a free delivery service to your houseboat if you choose to purchase your alcohol with them.

A: Due to legislation, if you are coming from interstate, no fruit or vegetables are to be brought with you and must be safely disposed of before entering SA, fines do apply. You cannot bring certain fruit and vegetables into the Riverland. Fruit and vegetables that are at risk from fruit fly cannot travel with you into the Riverland. To protect Riverland growers the ‘bring a receipt’ rule is no longer recognised. You will be fined if you are caught travelling into the Riverland with these fruit and vegetables.

The law changed on 29 July 2021. Call the 24hr Fruit Fly Hotline on 1300 666 010 for more information. Grab them when you arrive and support the great range of local growers and producers in our area.

A: Supplies along the river are very limited, so we suggest you bring with you, all the provisions you think you will require for as many nights you are on board the houseboat. River Murray Houseboats do have some service points along the river (however conditions apply) please refer to our T&C’s.

A: Supplied aboard all boats are bath towels, quality bed linen (including doonas and spare blankets, pillows) and soap. In the kitchen there is handwash, dishwashing powder, fly spray, kitchen sponges, tea towels etc. All boats have fully contained kitchens with a microwave, stove/ovens, all cutlery, crockery, and glasses, including wine and champagne, and plastic ware. There are BBQs on board, plus all boats have outdoor dining tables and chairs along with sun lounges upstairs and full sun canopies too.

A: The fridge is a large fridge /freezer unit, with plenty of space. There are large eskies aboard all boats for ice, drinks, or frozen foods.

A: Approximately 200 – 500 litre esky

A: You have plenty of fresh drinking water on board, so no need to worry. We do recommend for anyone particular with the taste of their water to bring their own boxed water along.

A: All boats range from 4 and 8 knots (between 7 and 8 kmph).

A: Fuel usage and costs differ from boat to boat depending on many variables like duration, usages style, generator/solar etc. The price/lts varies just like at the bowser. Check with us for approximate usage and cost.

A: Yes, you can supply your own. However, we do have a big ice freezer at the marina, where you can grab as much block or crushed ice as you need. The cost of the ice is deducted from your security bond at the end of your hire. There is no need to pre-order.

A: Yes, you can. However, we encourage you to bring your own ropes and fenders/buoys to keep your boat/jet ski from marks and scratches.

A: Yes, you sure can. The brewery is about a 6-hour houseboat drive upriver from us! (Approximately 38kms). There microbrewery has great beer, wine, and soft drink available (please no BYO), you can also select a cheese plater from their local products that they have on offer and on weekends and special times they may have a food van and live music. I would check their Facebook page for details on what is on closer to the date. They are open 5 days a week Wednesday – Sunday from 11am till 5pm

(Closed Monday, Tuesday, xmas day, New Year’s Day, and good Friday.)

A: As you head upstream under the 2:30pm bridge lift, you will find the Renmark township on your left in roughly 35 minutes.

You will find mooring spots along the whole of the river.

For those seeking a relaxing and peaceful experience you will be amazed at the majestic scenery of orange cliffs, the river mists rising in the morning, the incredible array of bird life, and the breath-taking expanse of stars in the night skies! Imagine waking up to a different view each day, checking out the water birds skimming low across the water, fish jumping, and swans & pelicans coming within arm’s reach.

On your final evening you may wish to moore your houseboat at the Renmark town wharf and explore what is on offer. From here you will have a 35-minute return to the Paringa Bridge at 9:30am on the final day.
